Renovations in Cape Town, Built to Last
Waterproofing, kitchens, bathrooms, painting and extensions. One team, one written scope, from the first site visit to the last snag.
Renovation and Waterproofing Services in Cape Town
Eight services, one crew, one written scope. Most jobs combine two or three of them: a bathroom that needs waterproofing first, a kitchen that needs a wall moved, an exterior that needs plaster and paint before the winter rain arrives.
Waterproofing
Roofs, parapets, balconies, box gutters and basements, with the leak traced before anything is specified or priced.
Learn more →Damp Proofing
Rising damp, penetrating damp and condensation, each treated at the cause instead of painted over.
Learn more →Painting
Interiors, exteriors, roofs and kitchen cabinets, with the preparation that makes a paint job actually last.
Learn more →Kitchen Renovations
Layout, plumbing, electrical, cabinetry and stone, coordinated by one team on one written scope.
Learn more →Bathroom Renovations
Waterproofing, falls to the drain and flood testing done properly, before a single tile goes down.
Learn more →Home Renovations
Whole-house work, open-plan changes and structural openings in older Cape Town homes.
Learn more →Plastering
Skimming, crack repair, cornices, external plaster and plasterboard ceilings, finished ready to paint.
Learn more →Home Extensions
Extra rooms, open-plan additions and covered patios, from the plans through to the roof tie-in.

We are Plinth Renovations and Construction, based at 64 Oxford Street, Richmond Estate, Goodwood. After years working on homes across the Northern Suburbs and the greater city, we build for what most contractors underestimate: this climate.
At the foot of Table Mountain your home takes a unique beating. Atlantic salt air corrodes fixtures and fasteners. The summer Cape Doctor drives dust and UV into paint and timber. Winter brings sideways rain that finds every failed seal, flat roof and cracked parapet. Older Goodwood, Parow and Milnerton stock often hides damp, cracked plaster and tired electrics.
Our playbook is written for that: stainless or treated fixings near the coast, flexible waterproofing for parapets and flat roofs, mould-resistant prep, and honest advice on where to spend and where to save.
- We diagnose before we quote: Moisture readings, a hose test and a look inside the ceiling before a number goes on paper.
- One team, start to finish: The crew that strips your bathroom is the crew that waterproofs it, tiles it and hands it back.
- Written scope and sequence: You know what is included, what is excluded and what order it happens in before demolition day.
- We work in lived-in homes: Sheeting, daily clean-up and a plan for the kitchen or bathroom your family still has to use.

Areas we cover across Cape Town
We are based in Goodwood and work within roughly 25 km of it: the Northern Suburbs, the City Bowl, the Atlantic Seaboard and the Southern Suburbs. Stellenbosch and Somerset West we take on by arrangement, when the job is large enough to justify the travel. Our area pages cover the suburbs where we do most of our work. If yours is not listed, ask. The answer is usually yes.
Durbanville
Older town-centre homes and newer estates, where north-westerly winter rain finds every weak junction.
See this area →Bellville
Dense 1960s and 1970s housing on plaster over brick, where damp shows first at skirting level.
See this area →Parow
Family homes and small commercial buildings, many of them due for their first proper waterproofing.
See this area →Table View
West-facing coastal homes where salt air, wind and balcony edges test every waterproofing detail.
See this area →Brackenfell
Family homes and additions, where a roofline that ties into the old house badly lets water straight in.
See this area →Southern Suburbs
Older Edwardian and Victorian homes in Rondebosch, Claremont, Wynberg and Plumstead, handled with care.

How much does a renovation cost in Cape Town? +
It depends on the scope, and anyone who quotes you a firm price per square metre before seeing the house is guessing. We visit, measure, open what needs opening, then give you one written estimate with the essential work and the optional work separated.
Do you handle waterproofing and damp as part of a renovation? +
Yes, and we treat it as the first job rather than a line item at the end. A bathroom or kitchen quote that ignores the roof above it is a quote we would not sign off on ourselves.
How long does a bathroom or kitchen take? +
We give you a date range in the written quote, based on the actual scope. We do not publish a standard number, because a bathroom that needs a drain moved is a different job from one that does not.
Do you take on small jobs? +
Yes. A leaking parapet, one room painted, a ceiling patch, a single shower that has to be redone. Small jobs are often how we meet the owners we later build for.
Do you work outside Cape Town? +
Stellenbosch and Somerset West by arrangement for larger jobs. Our normal working radius is about 25 km around Goodwood.
Do I need plans or council approval? +
Structural work, alterations and additions usually need approval from the City of Cape Town before work starts. We tell you when it applies to your job, and we can work with your architect or draughtsman.
Can I stay in the house while you work? +
Usually yes. We sheet off the work area, plan around the bathroom or kitchen you still need, and clean up at the end of each day.
How do payments work? +
Staged against progress and set out in the quote before we start. We do not ask for the whole job upfront.
