Home renovations in Cape Town
Whole-house work, or one part of the house done properly. Same team, same written scope, same sequence.
What a full renovation actually involves
A whole-house renovation is not one big job. It is a dozen jobs that have to happen in the right order, and the order is what separates a smooth project from a house that is open for months. Structural work before services. Services before closing walls. Waterproofing before finishes. Finishes before the snag list. Cape Town's housing stock makes this more interesting than it sounds. A 1950s Goodwood house has solid brick walls, no cavity and a damp course that may or may not still work. A 1970s Bellville house may have been extended twice, each time with a roof tied into the last one. A newer Durbanville home has modern services but detailing at parapets and balconies that was value-engineered at construction. We plan around the structure you actually have. Sometimes that means keeping a wall that a plan said to remove, because it is carrying more than the drawing showed. Sometimes it means opening a room differently to avoid moving a drain. We will always tell you which is which, and what each option costs, before demolition starts.

Get estimate →What changes the price of a home renovation
| Factor | Why it moves the number |
|---|---|
| Whether walls move | Removing a wall means structural support, making good and often new finishes on both sides. |
| Services condition | Old wiring and galvanised pipes found behind a wall turn a cosmetic job into a first-fix job. |
| How much is replaced | Keeping and restoring original floors and doors can cost less than new, and look better. |
| Water damage found | Roof and damp problems are usually discovered once ceilings are open. We price the repair, not a rebuild. |
| Phasing | Working room by room so the family stays in the house takes longer but costs less in disruption. |
We quote a full-house job in sections, so you can see the cost of each part and decide what to do now and what to do later.

How a renovation runs
1. Survey
Every room measured, services checked, roof and damp assessed, and priorities agreed with you.
2. Scope and sequence
A written scope split into essential and optional, with the order of work and who does what.
3. Structure and first fix
Openings formed, walls removed with support, plumbing and electrical roughed in.
4. Close up and finish
Plaster, waterproofing, tiling, joinery, paint and the fittings, in the planned order.
5. Snag and hand over
A joint walk-through, a written snag list, and the fixes completed before final payment.
- One point of contact: The person who quoted the job is the person you call while it runs.
- Sectioned pricing: You see the cost of each part, so you can phase the work instead of financing all of it at once.
- Structure checked, not assumed: We confirm what a wall is carrying before it comes out.
